Project Overview
Fusion Surfaces was appointed directly by Warner Hotels to complete an office door wrapping project at their Head Office in Hemel Hempstead. The instruction followed a previous successful refurbishment project we had delivered at Warner Hotels Runnymede on Thames, where we wrapped more than 200 doors.
Completed in March 2026, this project involved upgrading 12 internal office doors and selected surrounding architraves to bring them back in line with the wider office environment. The vinyl wrapping installation was carried out over 2 days and included removing and rehanging the doors, as well as removing and refitting the ironmongery.
Goals and Site Constraints
The existing doors were looking tired and dated, but they were still structurally sound. Warner Hotels wanted to modernise them so they better suited the office interior, without going through the time, cost, and disruption involved in full replacement.
Because this was a live office environment, avoiding disruption was a priority. Rather than trying to work around staff and meetings, the installation was scheduled to take place during an upcoming office closure. This allowed the refurbishment to be completed efficiently while the building was empty, so staff returned to a transformed space without any interruption to day-to-day operations.
Replacing the doors would have created a longer programme and a more invasive process. Office door wrapping provided a faster, more practical alternative.
Scope of Refurbishment
The project included the refurbishment of 12 doors in total, made up of 6 vision panel doors, 4 plain doors, and 2 entrance doors. Of these, 10 were full-height doors at approximately 2.6 metres high.
We also wrapped selected surrounding architraves to help tie the scheme together and create a more cohesive finish across the office.
As part of the works, the doors were removed and rehung where required, and all relevant ironmongery was removed and refitted during the installation process.
Before the project began, we sent interior film finish samples for approval and the client selected SOIF UG/UF 6500 Teak, a warm timber-effect finish that gave the doors a more contemporary appearance.
Delivery Process
The project was delivered by 2 installers over 2 days. Because the office was vacant during this period, the team was able to work through the programme efficiently without needing to phase works around staff access, meeting room bookings, or daily operations.
Prior to installation, finish samples were supplied so the client could choose the most suitable option for the space. Once the teak finish had been approved, materials were prepared and the installation was scheduled to coincide with the office closure.
The main challenge arose on the 2 entrance doors, where protective panelling had previously been glued onto the surfaces. This meant there was a significant amount of preparation work needed to bring the doors back to a smooth, suitable condition before the vinyl could be applied. By dealing with that additional prep on site and keeping the programme moving, we were still able to complete the works within the planned timeframe.
Results and Measurable Outcomes
The completed project gave Warner Hotels Head Office a noticeably more modern and cohesive appearance without the need to replace the existing doors.
By choosing office door wrapping in Hemel Hempstead rather than replacement, the client was able to upgrade the space in just 2 days, keep disruption to an absolute minimum, and avoid a longer, more costly programme of works.
The project was completed on time, with no overrun, meaning staff returned to the office to find the transformed doors fully finished and ready for use.
The new teak finish made a real difference to the overall office environment, helping the doors feel more in keeping with the surrounding interior while making the most of doors that were still perfectly serviceable.
