Project Overview
Fusion Surfaces was appointed directly by Novotel Wembley in June 2026 to provide a temporary branding and privacy solution during renovation works at the hotel.
The brief covered approximately 18 metres of metal hoarding, together with the ground-floor glazing running alongside the construction area.
Rather than leaving the temporary hoarding exposed, Novotel wanted it incorporated into the hotel’s visual identity. We developed branded hoarding graphics using Novotel’s blue and white colour scheme, while the glazing required full frosting to prevent views into the building during the works.
The result combined large-format printed graphics with commercial window frosting in London, featuring the Novotel logo reverse cut into the frosted film.
Goals and Site Constraints
The main aim was to screen the refurbishment works from customers and passers-by without making the frontage feel like an unfinished construction site.
Novotel wanted the hoarding to feel deliberate and on-brand, while the ground-floor glazing needed to provide privacy throughout the renovation period.
Because the area behind the hoarding was a closed construction zone, there were no operational restrictions from guests within the immediate work area. However, the frontage remained highly visible, so the finished construction hoarding graphics in London needed to present a clean and professional appearance throughout the works.
The biggest site constraint ultimately came from the weather, with exceptionally high temperatures affecting installation onto the metal hoarding.
Scope of Refurbishment
The project included:
- a full site survey and measurement of the hoarding and glazing
- approximately 18 metres of metal hoarding
- branded design concepts produced for client approval
- final Novotel blue graphics with white branding
- artwork preparation and large-format print production
- installation of the printed hoarding graphics
- full frosting to the ground-floor glazing
- Novotel logos reverse cut into the frosted film
Before production, we created visual mock-ups showing how different treatments would look on the existing hoarding. Novotel selected the blue option, which our graphic designer then prepared for print before manufacture and installation.
Delivery Process
The project was completed by 2 installers over 2 days.
Following the initial site survey, the measurements were used to create the artwork and client mock-ups before the approved design was taken through to print production.
Installing the branded hoarding graphics required more care than applying film to a straightforward flat surface. The metal panels contained numerous bolts, so the graphics had to be carefully heated and worked around each fixing to achieve a neat and durable result.
The greatest challenge, however, was the weather. Temperatures reached around 40°C, causing both the metal panels and printed graphics to become extremely hot. This made the material more difficult to handle and apply accurately and resulted in a slight delay during installation.
Despite the conditions, the complete graphics and frosting package was successfully installed over the planned two-day visit.
Results and Measurable Outcomes
The completed project gave the renovation area a much more polished and intentional appearance.
Instead of plain temporary hoarding and clear glazing looking directly into construction works, the frontage became an extension of the Novotel brand. The blue and white graphics created a strong visual presence, while the frosted glazing successfully screened the internal refurbishment works.
The project delivered:
- approximately 18 metres of branded hoarding graphics
- a bespoke design aligned with Novotel’s brand identity
- full privacy across the ground-floor glazing
- reverse-cut Novotel logos incorporated into the frosting
- renovation works screened from public view
- installation completed by 2 installers over 2 days
- a professional exterior throughout the refurbishment period
Combining construction hoarding graphics in Wembley with commercial window frosting allowed the hotel to maintain a consistent brand presence while renovation works continued behind the scenes.
Before and After Gallery
The project photographs show the transformation from plain temporary hoarding and exposed ground-floor glazing to a fully branded Novotel frontage. The before and after images highlight how construction hoarding graphics and window frosting can conceal renovation works while maintaining a professional, on-brand appearance within a busy London location.
