Project Overview
Fusion Surfaces was contacted by Ashorne Hill Management College in May 2026 to refurbish the existing fitted furniture across 15 hotel bedrooms.
Parts of the hotel had already been upgraded with new furniture, leaving the remaining bedrooms visually out of step with the refreshed areas. However, the existing fitted furniture was still in good condition and did not need to be removed simply to achieve a different finish.
Rather than replacing it, Ashorne Hill chose to refurbish the furniture in place using architectural film, creating a more consistent appearance across the hotel while avoiding unnecessary replacement.
Goals and Site Constraints
The main goal was to bring the 15 bedrooms into line with the rooms that had already been updated with new furniture.
The refurbishment therefore needed to achieve a finish that felt intentional and consistent with the wider bedroom scheme, rather than looking like a separate treatment applied to older furniture.
Ashorne Hill remained fully operational throughout the project, so programme planning was particularly important. Blocks of rooms were released to our installers in advance, allowing the works to be coordinated around guest check-in and check-out times without affecting the wider operation of the hotel.
Refurbishing the existing furniture also avoided the disruption involved in removing large fitted units from guest bedrooms and replacing items that were still perfectly serviceable.
Scope of Refurbishment
Across the 15 guest rooms, Fusion Surfaces refurbished a range of fitted bedroom furniture, including:
- fitted wardrobes
- bed boxes
- mirrors and surrounding fitted elements
- headboards
- TV backing units
- hanging cupboards
- shelving units
The furniture was wrapped in LX Hausys BENIF PW141, a soft walnut-effect finish with a grey-brown appearance.
Using the same finish across the different furniture elements helped create a much more cohesive bedroom scheme and brought the refurbished rooms closer to the appearance of the newly furnished areas elsewhere in the hotel.
Delivery Process
The project was completed by 2 installers over 4 days.
Because the hotel remained operational, the bedroom programme was agreed with Ashorne Hill in advance. Blocks of rooms were made available to the team at planned times, allowing installation to progress efficiently while rooms elsewhere in the hotel remained available to guests.
The existing furniture was generally in good condition, so preparation was straightforward. The main installation consideration was the number of individual components involved, particularly within the shelving units, where multiple separate pieces of architectural film had to be accurately measured, cut and installed to produce a consistent finish.
Working systematically through each bedroom allowed the team to complete all 15 rooms within the planned four-day programme.
Results and Measurable Outcomes
The completed refurbishment brought the bedrooms much more closely into line with the areas of the hotel that had already received new furniture.
The soft walnut finish replaced the previous dated appearance with a more contemporary grey-brown timber effect, creating greater consistency throughout the bedroom scheme while retaining the existing fitted furniture.
The project delivered:
- 15 hotel bedrooms refurbished
- multiple fitted furniture elements upgraded within each room
- installation completed by 2 installers in 4 days
- works coordinated around guest check-in and check-out
- hotel remained operational throughout
- existing furniture retained rather than replaced
- greater consistency between refurbished rooms and newly furnished areas
- reduced waste and disruption compared with removing fitted bedroom furniture
The project demonstrates how hotel furniture wrapping can help operators update rooms in phases while making better use of existing assets.
Before and After Gallery
The project photographs show the transformation of the existing bedroom furniture to a softer, more contemporary walnut-effect finish. The before and after images highlight how hotel fitted furniture refurbishment can bring older guest rooms into line with newly upgraded areas, particularly where the existing furniture remains structurally sound but the finish no longer suits the wider interior scheme.
Start Your Hotel Furniture Refurbishment Project
If fitted wardrobes, headboards, shelving or other hotel bedroom furniture are still in good condition but no longer suit the interior scheme, hotel furniture wrapping can provide a faster and less disruptive alternative to replacement.
