Inside the NEC in Birmingham, one of the UK’s busiest exhibition venues, the Wetherspoon’s bar required a quick exterior refresh. The venue’s large wall panels had a dull grey finish that no longer reflected the brand’s identity.
The goal was simple: transform the panels to Wetherspoon’s recognisable Oxford Blue while keeping the venue fully operational. Because the NEC remains active into the evening, the work needed to be completed overnight.
The Solution
Replacing the panels would have meant disruption, cost and unnecessary waste. Instead, we recommended exterior wall panel refurbishment using architectural vinyl wrapping.
By wrapping the existing panels in a durable interior film, the venue could achieve the new Oxford Blue finish without removing the structure beneath. This approach allowed the colour change to happen quickly while still delivering a professional, long-lasting result.
The Process
Timing was critical. The NEC hosts constant footfall during the day, so the installation took place overnight once the venue had closed. Two installers completed the work for safety reasons. Working methodically across the three large wall sections, the team prepared and wrapped the panels in just a few hours. By morning, the transformation was complete and the venue opened as usual.
