Hotel Guest Room Door Refurbishment
The Brief
Colnbrook Hotel, located close to Heathrow Airport, planned a wider refurbishment programme to modernise its guest accommodation. As part of this upgrade, the hotel needed to improve the appearance of its bedroom doors while keeping costs and disruption under control. Replacing every door would have involved significant expense and operational challenges. Instead, the hotel explored hotel guest room door refurbishment using architectural vinyl wrapping, allowing the doors to be refreshed without removal.
The Solution
Interior vinyl wrapping provided a practical way to modernise the doors without replacing them.
Initially, the hotel’s designer specified a Formica F5887 finish. After reviewing options, LX Hausys Benif architectural film was selected as a suitable alternative. The chosen material delivered a similar visual effect while offering a more cost-effective solution.
By refurbishing the existing doors in situ, the project avoided unnecessary material waste and reduced installation time.
The Process
Preparation played an important role in achieving a high-quality result. Each door was carefully filled, sanded and primed before wrapping began.
To minimise disruption to hotel operations, the work was organised in four phases. A total of 119 rooms were completed across the programme, with groups of 34, 17, 34 and 34 rooms refurbished in sequence. This phased approach allowed rooms to remain available for guests while refurbishment progressed steadily through the building.
Once prepared, the LX Hausys Benif film was applied by our installation team with precision, producing a consistent finish across every door.
The Transformation
The completed refurbishment made an immediate visual difference across the guest rooms.
Previously dated doors were replaced with a contemporary finish that complemented the hotel’s updated interior design. Importantly, the hotel guest room door refurbishment delivered the appearance of newly installed doors without the disruption or cost associated with replacement.
Guests now experience a more modern and welcoming environment from the moment they enter their rooms.

Client Advantages
The refurbishment delivered several key benefits for the hotel:
Doors upgraded without removal or replacement
Phased installation allowed rooms to remain operational
Significant cost savings compared with installing new doors
Consistent finish across all refurbished guest rooms
Durable architectural film suitable for hospitality environments
Furthermore, vinyl wrapping provided the flexibility to match the desired aesthetic without committing to new joinery.
Conclusion
The Colnbrook Hotel project highlights how hotel guest room door refurbishment can modernise hospitality interiors efficiently and with minimal disruption.
By combining careful preparation, phased installation and high-quality architectural film, Fusion Surfaces delivered a practical upgrade that aligned with the hotel’s refurbishment goals. The result is a refreshed guest room environment achieved without major construction works.
