Office Bathroom Cubicle Refurbishment
The Brief
DBSJ approached Fusion Surfaces during the refurbishment of a busy office building in Didsbury. The goal was to modernise the existing washroom facilities while avoiding the disruption and cost of replacing the cubicles, IPS panels and doors. Working alongside the project’s interior designer, the refurbishment needed to match a new upmarket colour scheme while fitting into an active building environment. With staff continuing to use the office throughout the project, the installation also had to minimise disruption to day-to-day operations. As a result, the team explored office bathroom cubicle refurbishment using architectural vinyl wrapping.
The Solution
Following consultations with the design team, we selected a charcoal grey finish from the LX Hausys architectural film range. The solid colour created a refined look while avoiding an overly complex mix of textures within the washrooms.
To introduce contrast and brighten the space, the cubicle frames were wrapped in a clean white finish, replacing the previous brown wood effect. This combination delivered a more contemporary appearance that aligned with the building’s updated design scheme.
Vinyl wrapping allowed the refurbishment to retain the existing cubicles and panels while delivering a completely refreshed finish.
The Process
Because the office remained operational, the installation followed a phased schedule. This approach allowed our team to work around other contractors on site while maintaining access to the building’s facilities.
The cubicle doors presented a particular challenge due to the internal lip that forms part of the cubicle system. Our installers prepared and wrapped each surface carefully to achieve a seamless finish.
During the project, the scope expanded to include seven additional office doors requested by the client. To keep the refurbishment on schedule, our team completed these additional works over the weekend so the project could still be handed over on the planned date.
The Transformation
The completed refurbishment delivered a striking improvement across the washroom facilities.
Dark charcoal cubicle doors and panels now create a modern, cohesive look throughout the space, while the white frames introduce contrast that brightens the overall environment. What was once a dated washroom area now aligns with the rest of the office refurbishment.
Through office bathroom cubicle refurbishment, the building achieved a high-quality interior upgrade without replacing the existing cubicles or doors.

Client Advantages
The project delivered several important benefits for DBSJ and their client:
Cubicle doors, vanity units, IPS panels and entrance doors refurbished in place
Additional office doors upgraded within the project schedule
Installation coordinated alongside other refurbishment works
Significant cost savings compared with replacing fixtures
More sustainable refurbishment with reduced material waste
Overall, the approach saved the client over £30,000 compared with replacing the existing washroom furniture, while also avoiding the cost of new office doors.
Conclusion
The Didsbury project for DBSJ demonstrates how office bathroom cubicle refurbishment can modernise commercial washrooms quickly and efficiently.
By combining careful planning with high-quality architectural film, Fusion Surfaces delivered a refined and durable finish that matched the designer’s vision while keeping the building fully operational. The result is a contemporary workspace upgrade achieved without the cost or disruption of full replacement works.
