College Bathroom Refurbishment
The Brief
Manchester College wanted to modernise six student bathrooms across their campus before the start of the new academic year. The existing facilities were dated and no longer reflected the college’s brand identity or the standard they wanted to present to students. Fusion Surfaces was therefore asked to manage the project, combining architectural vinyl wrapping with other refurbishment works to deliver a complete solution. The objective was to complete the college bathroom refurbishment during the summer holiday period, ensuring the facilities were ready for students returning.
The Solution
During the consultation stage, Rosie met with the Head of Facilities to assess the existing bathrooms and understand how the spaces were used daily.
The college had previously explored both spray painting the cubicles and replacing them entirely. However, both options came with drawbacks in terms of durability, cost and disruption.
Instead, we proposed refurbishing the existing cubicle systems using architectural vinyl wrapping from the LX Hausys RS range, combined with hygiene wall cladding and other supporting works. This approach allowed the college to retain the existing structures while achieving a completely refreshed appearance.
Working alongside the college’s team, we selected a bold yellow and grey colour scheme that aligned with the college branding and introduced a more vibrant atmosphere for students.
The Process
Before proceeding with the full installation, two trial bathrooms were completed to ensure the college was completely satisfied with the materials and finish.
Once approved, work began on the remaining four bathrooms during the summer break. The refurbishment required significant preparation before wrapping could begin.
Existing urinals and IPS panels were deep cleaned, tiles were removed and the walls were re-plastered before hygiene wall cladding was installed. Our team then dismantled the cubicle systems so the panels could be wrapped properly before reinstallation.
Two installers completed the project over four weeks, working alongside plumbers, joiners and other contractors to keep the programme on schedule.
The Transformation
The completed refurbishment dramatically improved the look and feel of the bathrooms.
Bold yellow cubicles combined with grey finishes introduced a vibrant and modern environment that reflects the college’s branding. What were once tired student facilities now present a bright and welcoming space for students and staff.
Through college bathroom refurbishment, the college achieved a high-quality interior upgrade without replacing the entire cubicle systems.

Client Advantages
The project delivered several benefits for Manchester College:
Six student bathrooms refurbished during the summer holiday period
Existing cubicle systems upgraded rather than replaced
Hygiene wall cladding installed to improve durability and cleanliness
Architectural film used to create a bold branded colour scheme
Reduced waste by retaining existing structures
The approach delivered a cost-effective refurbishment while ensuring the bathrooms were ready in time for the start of the new academic year.
Conclusion
The Manchester College project highlights how college bathroom refurbishment can modernise student facilities while keeping costs and disruption under control.
By combining architectural vinyl wrapping with coordinated refurbishment works, Fusion Surfaces delivered a vibrant transformation that aligns with the college’s branding and supports a better experience for students using the facilities.
