The Humber View Hotel in Hull was preparing to reopen after fulfilling a government accommodation contract. Before welcoming guests back, the hotel wanted to refresh several interior areas to ensure the rooms felt clean, modern and inviting. A key part of this update focused on the existing guest room desks and the reception desk area. The desks featured a distinctive cherry wood finish that had become difficult to match with replacement materials. The Solution
Fusion Surfaces recommended architectural vinyl wrapping using 3M Di-Noc finishes.
The goal was to replicate the existing cherry wood appearance while refreshing worn surfaces. Vinyl wrapping allowed the desks to be upgraded in place, avoiding the disruption associated with furniture replacement.
Because achieving the correct finish was important, we carried out a trial wrap within one guest room first. This allowed the Humber View Hotel team to review the colour match and durability before proceeding with the full installation.
The Process
Once the finish was approved, our installers prepared each desk surface carefully before applying the architectural film.
The guest room desks were wrapped to recreate the original cherry wood appearance, ensuring the refreshed surfaces remained consistent with the existing décor. In the reception area, the design moved in a slightly different direction. Here, the client selected a copper concrete finish, which brightened the space and introduced a more contemporary look.
The installation moved quickly and efficiently, helping the hotel remain on schedule for reopening.
