College Washroom Refurbishment
The Brief
Manchester College appointed Fusion Surfaces to complete the vinyl wrapping element of a large refurbishment programme at the Nicholls Campus.
Several toilet blocks featured outdated pink fittings dating from the 1990s. However, the structures remained sound. The college therefore required a college washroom refurbishment that would visually align these areas with newly installed bathrooms elsewhere on site.
The Solution
Fusion Surfaces refurbished the existing washroom surfaces using commercial vinyl wrapping rather than removing fixtures.
First, the team assessed which blocks were suitable for wrapping. Once confirmed, installers prepared panels carefully to ensure strong adhesion and long-term durability. As a result, dated finishes were replaced with modern surfaces that matched the newer bathrooms across campus.
Because the original structures remained in place, the refurbishment reduced waste and shortened programme time.
The Process
Working to the main contractor’s programme, Fusion Surfaces assembled an experienced installation team and scheduled delivery across three toilet blocks.
The team completed the refurbishment over four days. During this time, installers wrapped cubicles, IPS panels, boxing-in, vanity units, access panels and doors. First, surfaces were carefully prepared to ensure a consistent finish. Then, installation progressed in phases to maintain efficiency across the site.
Meanwhile, works continued alongside other trades operating within the live project environment. As a result, the installation integrated smoothly into the wider refurbishment programme without causing delays or disruption.
The Transformation
Following completion, the refurbished toilet blocks presented a fresh and contemporary environment.
Previously dated pink fittings were transformed into clean, cohesive finishes that aligned with the new campus design standards. Importantly, the college washroom refurbishment delivered the visual impact of new facilities without demolition or extended downtime.
Students and staff now benefit from modern washrooms consistent with the wider campus upgrade.

Client Advantages
The refurbishment approach delivered clear benefits:
Rapid transformation without replacing fixtures
Reduced disruption within an operational college
Lower project cost compared with full replacement
Consistent visual standard across campus facilities
Reduced material waste through reuse of existing assets
Furthermore, vinyl wrapping allowed Manchester College to modernise facilities efficiently while maintaining programme control.
Conclusion
The Manchester College project demonstrates how college washroom refurbishment can modernise educational facilities quickly and effectively.
By combining careful assessment with specialist installation, Fusion Surfaces transformed outdated toilet blocks into contemporary spaces aligned with new campus standards. As a result, the college achieved a high-impact upgrade without unnecessary construction work.
