Hotel Door Refurbishment
The Brief
B&B Hotels required a hotel door refurbishment solution at their Ipswich location to modernise guest corridors without replacing more than 125 existing doors.
More than 125 bedroom doors had become worn, misaligned and visually inconsistent through daily use. The client required a solution that would modernise the space, improve functionality and maintain normal hotel operations throughout the works. Fusion Surfaces were appointed to deliver a refurbishment solution capable of upgrading the interior while minimising disruption, cost and downtime.
The Solution
Fusion Surfaces proposed refurbishing rather than replacing the doors using specialist architectural vinyl wrapping.
Each door was adjusted and repaired where necessary before being finished in a durable oak woodgrain architectural film. This approach retained the existing assets while achieving the appearance of newly installed doors.
The solution reduced cost, shortened programme time and eliminated the disruption typically associated with large-scale replacement works in live hospitality environments.
The Process
Working within an operational hotel required careful coordination and phased delivery.
Two installation teams worked simultaneously across multiple floors, completing joinery corrections and surface preparation before wrapping each door to ensure long-term durability.
Programmes were aligned with hotel operations to minimise disruption to guests and staff. Despite the scale of the project, works were completed in just 12 days.
The Transformation
The refurbishment delivered an immediate visual upgrade to the corridor environments.
Previously worn and inconsistent doors were transformed into a cohesive, modern finish aligned with B&B Hotels’ brand standards. Functionality was restored, and the overall guest experience improved without the need for structural replacement. The completed hotel door refurbishment created a cohesive, modern corridor environment aligned with brand standards.
