Aparthotel Door Refurbishment
The Brief
StayCity Aparthotels are known for their contemporary interiors, and their Manchester location required a refresh to maintain that standard. As part of an ongoing fit-out programme within the building, the existing doors needed updating to align with the brand’s modern design scheme. In total, the project involved 276 doors across seven floors, including 186 bedroom doors, 34 storage doors and 56 corridor doors with vision panels. Replacing every door would have created unnecessary disruption and slowed down the wider refurbishment works. Instead, StayCity explored aparthotel door refurbishment as a faster and more efficient solution.
The Solution
Fusion Surfaces proposed upgrading the existing doors using architectural vinyl wrapping.
Working closely with the StayCity team, we selected high-quality finishes that aligned with the aparthotel’s brand palette. Vinyl wrapping allowed the doors to be refreshed in place while maintaining consistency with the surrounding interior design.
Because the work took place alongside an active fit-out programme, careful planning ensured the installation integrated smoothly with other trades on site.
The Process
To maintain efficiency, the refurbishment was organised floor by floor in line with the wider construction schedule.
One installer worked methodically through each level, completing an entire floor in approximately two days. This staged approach kept the project aligned with the fit-out programme and prevented delays.
Bedroom doors presented an additional challenge due to the electronic lock systems installed on each one. These locks required careful removal and reinstallation during the wrapping process. By coordinating closely with specialists handling the lock systems, the team ensured installation progressed without interruption.
The Transformation
A Cohesive Interior Across Seven Floors
Once complete, the visual change was immediately noticeable throughout the building.
Plain doors that previously lacked character were replaced with finishes that matched StayCity’s brand aesthetic. Bedroom doors, storage doors and corridor doors now share a consistent design that ties each floor together.
Through aparthotel door refurbishment, the building achieved the appearance of newly installed doors while avoiding the disruption and expense of replacing them.

Client Advantages
The refurbishment delivered several key benefits for StayCity Aparthotels:
276 doors upgraded across seven floors
Installation coordinated with the wider fit-out programme
Bedroom door electronic locks carefully removed and reinstalled
Fast installation with minimal disruption to other trades
Significant cost savings compared with replacing all doors
Furthermore, vinyl wrapping allowed StayCity to modernise a large number of doors quickly while maintaining consistency with their brand identity.
Conclusion
The StayCity Manchester project highlights how aparthotel door refurbishment can deliver large-scale interior upgrades efficiently.
By combining architectural vinyl wrapping with careful project coordination, Fusion Surfaces refreshed 276 doors across seven floors while keeping the wider refurbishment programme on track. The result is a modern and cohesive interior that reflects StayCity’s contemporary brand style.
