Office Lift and Door Refurbishment
The Brief
Spring Gardens, a prominent office building in the centre of Manchester, underwent a wider refurbishment designed to attract new tenants and modernise the building’s interior spaces. As part of this programme, Cubic Works appointed Fusion Surfaces to carry out an office lift and door refurbishment. The project involved upgrading the interiors and exteriors of the building’s lifts as well as refurbishing 20 internal doors. The goal was to introduce finishes that aligned with the building’s new design scheme while avoiding the disruption and cost associated with replacing the existing fixtures.
The Solution
Architectural vinyl wrapping offered an efficient way to modernise both the lifts and the doors without replacing them.
Working alongside Cubic Works, we selected finishes from the LX Hausys Benif architectural film range. A dark wood effect was chosen for the doors to complement the wider interior design, including the building’s new green marble bathrooms and dark blue panelling within the lobby.
For the lifts, a bronze and white palette replaced the previous clinical stainless steel appearance, creating a more refined and welcoming environment for building occupants.
The Process
Preparation and coordination were essential to ensure the refurbishment progressed smoothly within the wider fit-out programme.
Following the approval of materials, a team of two installers carried out the wrapping works. The project was organised in stages so that the lifts remained functional while refurbishment took place. At the same time, the door upgrades were completed carefully to maintain consistency with the surrounding interior finishes.
By working methodically through each area, the team delivered the installation on schedule and within the client’s refurbishment timeline.
The Transformation
The completed refurbishment introduced a noticeably more sophisticated interior across the building.
Previously plain grey doors now feature a dark wood finish that adds warmth and depth to the office corridors. Meanwhile, the lifts underwent the most dramatic transformation, moving from a sterile stainless steel appearance to a design that reflects the quality of the wider fit-out.
Through office lift and door refurbishment, the building achieved a modern, high-end look without replacing its existing fixtures.

Client Advantages
The project delivered several benefits for Cubic Works and the building’s owners:
Lift interiors and exteriors upgraded without replacement
20 internal doors refurbished to match the new interior design
Architectural film selected for durability and fire compliance
Installation coordinated alongside a wider building refurbishment
Significant cost savings compared with replacing lifts and doors
Furthermore, refurbishing the existing surfaces reduced waste and supported a more sustainable refurbishment strategy.
Conclusion
The Spring Gardens project demonstrates how office lift and door refurbishment can modernise commercial buildings quickly and efficiently.
By combining architectural vinyl wrapping with careful planning, Fusion Surfaces delivered a high-quality transformation that complements the wider refurbishment of the building. The result is a more contemporary office environment designed to attract new tenants while preserving existing fixtures.
