The Brief
Having completed several projects for FI Real Estate, Fusion Surfaces partnered with their team again to deliver office building lift vinyl wrapping across a large office block in Chesterfield.
The project formed part of a wider fit-out programme spanning four floors. Lift doors, reveals and interiors required upgrading to enhance the building’s appeal ahead of new tenant occupation. Importantly, all materials needed to meet fire-rated standards to ensure compliance and safety.
The Solution
Fusion Surfaces refurbished lift doors and internal panels using architectural vinyl wrapping rather than replacement.
Working closely with FI Real Estate’s in-house team, we selected contemporary finishes from the latest LX Hausys sample collection. These finishes introduced a bold wood effect that elevated the building’s visual standard while maintaining durability.
Because the team retained the original lift structures, the refurbishment reduced cost and avoided disruption associated with removal works.
The Process
Working to FI Real Estate’s pre-issued programme, Fusion Surfaces coordinated installation alongside other trades operating on site.
One experienced installer managed the works efficiently across four floors. Preparation included dismantling handrails to achieve a seamless finish, informed by lessons learned on a previous adjacent building phase. Meanwhile, careful cutting around lift mirrors, screens and panelling ensured precision detailing.
At all times, at least one lift remained operational. Consequently, disruption to building access remained minimal and the site stayed fully functional throughout the refurbishment.
The Transformation
Following completion, the lifts shifted from plain stainless steel to a distinctive wood-effect finish that introduced warmth and character.
The precise wrapping around screens and large mirrors demonstrated close attention to detail. As a result, the upgraded lift interiors contributed significantly to the building’s overall presentation.
