Hotel Wardrobe Refurbishment
The Brief
Fusion Surfaces was appointed to carry out a hotel wardrobe refurbishment within a large hospitality property where the existing bedroom furniture required updating. The project involved upgrading 150 fitted wardrobes, each including integrated shelves and drawers, alongside the guest bedroom side of 150 doors and their surrounding architraves. While the furniture remained structurally sound, the finishes no longer matched the hotel’s modern interior design. Replacing such large fitted wardrobes would have created disruption and expense. Instead, the hotel looked for a solution that would refresh the appearance of the rooms while allowing normal operations to continue.
The Solution
Architectural vinyl wrapping provided an efficient way to modernise the wardrobes and doors without replacing them.
The selected finishes combined natural wood textures with a leather feature effect, creating a high-quality look that aligned with the hotel’s design standards. By wrapping the existing wardrobes and joinery in situ, the refurbishment avoided the need to remove large furniture items from guest rooms.
This approach allowed the hotel to achieve a significant visual upgrade while maintaining a practical installation programme.
The Process
Careful planning ensured the refurbishment could take place while the hotel continued operating.
One installer completed a room within a single day, wrapping the fitted wardrobes, shelves, drawers, door surfaces and architraves. This steady pace allowed the hotel reception team to continue managing bookings without taking large sections of the property out of service.
The installation process remained quiet and clean, producing no strong odours or disruptive construction work.

The Transformation
Modernised Guest Room Interiors
The transformation introduced a noticeable improvement across the guest rooms.
Previously dated wardrobe finishes were replaced with warm natural textures that complement the hotel’s contemporary interior design. The leather-effect feature surfaces added depth and character, giving each room a more refined appearance.
Through hotel wardrobe refurbishment, the hotel achieved the look of newly installed bedroom furniture without replacing the existing fitted units.
Client Advantages
The refurbishment delivered several important benefits:
150 fitted wardrobes upgraded across guest rooms
Shelves, drawers, door faces and architraves wrapped in situ
One room completed per day with minimal disruption
Approximately 60% cost saving compared with full furniture replacement
Reduced waste by retaining existing fitted furniture
Furthermore, refurbishing the wardrobes helped extend the lifespan of the furniture while avoiding unnecessary landfill.
Conclusion
This project at The Lowry Hotel highlights how hotel wardrobe refurbishment can modernise guest room interiors quickly and cost-effectively.
By using architectural vinyl wrapping, Fusion Surfaces refreshed large fitted wardrobes and surrounding joinery while the hotel remained fully operational. The result is a stylish and durable upgrade that enhances the guest experience without the disruption of replacing furniture.
