Football might be all about goals and trophies, but when it comes to interiors the real win is style that lasts longer than extra time. At Fusion Surfaces we have had the privilege of working with some of the biggest names in the game, including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Two very different clubs – and great rivals – who both wanted the same thing: a quick, clever and cost-effective way to keep their facilities looking sharp without disrupting what really matters: the football.
Arsenal: training with style
Arsenal invited us to refresh their Sobha Realty Training Centre. Now, if you have ever tried to tell a Premier League squad they can’t use the gym for a week because the doors are being replaced you will know that is not going to fly. Because of its ease of installation, vinyl wrapping was the obvious solution.
We started with the doors, applying architectural films in finishes chosen to suit the club’s brand and give the place a lift. Then came the gym equipment. Here we used a thinner, more flexible film that could handle curves and movement while still looking smart. Once the management saw the results the scope grew. Before long we were wrapping more than forty window frames, riser doors and corridor doors, creating a cohesive and modern look throughout.
The real success was that it was all done with barely a murmur of disruption. No dust, no noise, no waiting around. Just a sharp new training environment for a sharp team.
Spurs: keeping up appearances
Across north London Tottenham Hotspur had their own challenge. Despite being a new stadium the sheer scale of events, including football, concerts, NFL games, rugby and boxing, meant their tables and doors were already looking a little worse for wear. Replacing everything was not only costly, it would’ve meant unnecessary waste.
Instead we stepped in with our films. Over four days with a team of eight installers we refreshed 270 tables and 58 doors. Rounded edges, integrated vision panels and electronic fob systems were all handled with care. The result was a dramatic transformation. Tables looked brand new, doors were sleek again and the interiors matched the club’s reputation for excellence.
The added bonus was that by refurbishing rather than replacing Spurs cut costs and reduced environmental impact. A sustainability win to match their stadium’s world-class credentials.
More than men’s football
Of course, our love of the game isn’t confined to the Premier League giants. Like so many, we cheer on the England women’s team and celebrated their recent success on the European stage. The Lionesses have changed the landscape of football, proving that style and strength go hand in hand, something we like to think our projects do too!
