The Lowry Hotel Manchester | Luxury Suite Kitchen Refurbishment

The Brief

At The Lowry Hotel in Manchester, the design team wanted the kitchens inside their luxury suites to better reflect the updated interior style of the rooms. The existing stainless steel cupboard doors felt out of place alongside the darker wood finishes already introduced elsewhere in the suites. Rather than replacing the units entirely, the hotel explored ways to update the appearance while keeping disruption to guests as low as possible. Having already worked with Fusion Surfaces on previous refurbishments within the hotel, the team approached us again to help deliver the final stage of the suite upgrade.

The Solution

Architectural vinyl wrapping provided the ideal approach for this hotel suite kitchen refurbishment.

Working with the hotel and their interior designer, we selected a dark oak wood effect from the LX Hausys range. The finish complemented the wardrobes we had previously refurbished in the suites and helped create a more cohesive interior design.

Before installation began, we prepared a test door so the client could review the colour, texture and finish. Once approved, the project moved forward with confidence that the new finish would match the hotel’s design expectations.

The darker wood tone also offered a practical benefit by reducing the visibility of fingerprints and everyday wear.

The Process

Careful coordination was essential to keep the suites available for guests throughout the refurbishment.

Working alongside the fit-out contractor, we scheduled the project across two phases to allow the hotel to maintain room availability. Each kitchen required detailed preparation before wrapping could begin.

Our installer wrapped the cupboard doors, drawers, carcasses and kickboards, while also updating the worktops and splashbacks in a modern concrete-effect finish. On average, one installer completed a suite kitchen in around half a day, allowing the project to move efficiently from room to room.

The Transformation

The visual change inside the suites was immediate.

The new dark oak finish replaced the previous stainless steel surfaces, bringing warmth and consistency to the kitchens. Combined with the updated worktops and splashbacks, the kitchens now sit naturally within the overall design of the luxury suites.

For a hotel that regularly hosts celebrities and VIP guests, the upgraded kitchens now match the standard expected throughout the property.

Client Advantages

This project delivered several key benefits for The Lowry Hotel:

  • Luxury suite kitchens refreshed without replacing existing units

  • Installation scheduled to minimise disruption to guests

  • Significant cost savings compared with full kitchen replacement

  • Durable finishes suitable for hotel environments

  • Existing furniture retained rather than sent to landfill

Conclusion

This project at The Lowry Hotel highlights how hotel suite kitchen refurbishment can modernise high-end hospitality spaces quickly and efficiently.

By wrapping the existing kitchen units rather than replacing them, Fusion Surfaces helped The Lowry Hotel achieve a refined new look across their suites while maintaining the operational demands of a busy five-star hotel.

Rosie Christie

Co-Founder

Older than the rest of the team, but not necessarily wiser as she’d like to think. There’s not an activity under the sun that she’s not been willing to have a go at, resulting in a mediocre ukulele player, part-time blogger, one-time skydiver and an unfinished sitcom script. There’s no room for shades of grey in this half of the partnership; everything comes down to looking after people who are important.

Organising tradesmen is not a task for the fainthearted. But recruiting the right tradesmen, ones who align with our values and are highly skilled at what they do makes for a much more harmonious project management process. Rosie’s role begins with a meeting to discuss your requirements, providing you with a quotation and carries through to the on-site management of your project.

Jade Mitchell

Co-Founder

She’s the only Southerner on the team, but we try not to hold it against her too much. If anything, we’ve enjoyed introducing Jade to a vast number of pie shops now she’s a Northern resident. Standing at a phenomenal 5’2”, she is living proof that big things come in small packages; a mix of infectious enthusiasm, laughter, loyalty, authority and uncanny Theresa May impressions.

Communicating with our clients is Jade’s forte. Being highly organised and placing customer satisfaction at the forefront of everything she does means that from enquiry to completion, your queries will be dealt with efficiently. For an in depth knowledge of the material specification of our interior film, Jade is your woman. She will put your mind at rest that not only do we install this product, but we make sure that is the most suitable for your needs.
