Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last year, you’ve probably heard of vinyl wrapping by now.
For domestic clients, it saves hundreds of kitchens being sent to landfill, costs a fraction of the price and gives clients a brand-new-looking kitchen. There are plenty of companies now offering kitchen wrapping due to the benefits – and tighter than ever household incomes – and it’s taking off in a big way.
At Fusion, our main focus is on commercial clients.
Commercial sectors are where we predominantly work as we have the facilities and capabilities to work on large-scale projects. Although we have wrapped kitchens before, commercial work is our speciality.
We have undertaken work in many different sectors, either working with fit-out companies as part of their programme or directly with clients who are not having a complete refurbishment done.
All of the same benefits apply to commercial vinyl wrapping but the cost saving works out to be much bigger in comparison and companies are trying to reduce their carbon footprint more than ever.
The fit-out companies or clients we have worked with directly all have one thing in common: they are big players aware of the benefits our services can provide them with.
No long lead times, lengthy installation processes and a huge bonus when it comes to the bottom line; vinyl wrapping will be exploding onto the fit-out scene very soon.
It all depends on if you want to be an early adopter, or waste your time and money until you realise this was an opportunity you’ve been overlooking for a long time.
So, which sectors can we vinyl wrap?
Corporate Offices
We have seen our fair share of office furniture at Fusion.
Boardroom tables, reception desks, drawer units and desks have been covered from Preston to Peterborough (and many places in between).
An ideal item for offices to wrap is doors. Architectural (or interior) film, which is the vinyl we use, is fire rated to the highest possible rating and so can be safely installed on any interior door without any comeback from your fire safety officer.
The difference a wrapped door can make to a space is huge. We can either wrap the door on its own or wrap the architraves too if you’re going all out. Vision panels can be wrapped inclusive of the trims, or these can be left as a feature depending on the style you’re looking to create.
In addition to the above, we are now seeing more requests for lift wrapping. External doors and the surrounding reveals can be vinyl wrapped to refresh these areas, but the lift interiors can also be wrapped to modernise this space.
Student Accommodation
As many student accommodation landlords will know, competition is fierce in this sector.
Rooms up and down the country in halls of residence are crying out for refurbishments and this comes with a hefty price tag. One that you will likely wish to reduce wherever possible.
This summer, we refurbished 100 bedrooms of fitted furniture including shelves, desks, doors, beds and wardrobes which went on to sell out before we had finished and at a higher price tag than the bedrooms that had not been refurbished.
Students and their parents want to see value for money. This can be achieved using vinyl wrapping as a process that can be done quickly and efficiently without causing any disruption or prolonging the refurbishment process with long lead times or unexpected problems.

Hotels
Our first sizeable project was at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester.
When used on a scale like this, the benefits of vinyl wrapping can be fully appreciated. The cost of a new walk-in wardrobe alone was more than 4 times the cost of vinyl wrapping.
Before hiring anyone to fit it, the phenomenal cost of skips to take away 150 wardrobes and the inevitable works that would need to go on around this (patch plastering, redecoration, new carpets, etc.) is often too much for your businesses budget to bear.
Fusion has since worked in Holiday Inns all over the UK with a similar number of rooms, vinyl wrapping everything from case goods to desktops.
Premier Inn have also called upon our services to wrap their guest bedroom doors as they work to upgrade all of their rooms to current brand standards.
We have helped to refurbish many hotels in between, giving their reception areas a new look, some wall wraps as an alternative to wallpaper, and of course…hundreds more doors.
Healthcare
Whilst not our most popular sector, we have recently been getting more enquiries from the healthcare sector. This makes perfect sense as the architectural film we install is more hygienic and can be cleaned easily in any setting.
There are some instances where vinyl wrapping is not suitable in healthcare, such as areas that get a lot of traffic and where damage is likely to be caused such as beds running into doors or walls on a regular basis. In these circumstances, there are better options for our client which we would suggest.
However, bedroom doors or reception doors are usually a great place to start in the healthcare sector.
With budgets being tight and the convenience of vinyl wrapping in comparison to traditional refurbishments, we are expecting more healthcare establishments to look into this in the future.
Without any mess, dust or noise affecting everyday activities and meaning this sector can carry on largely undisturbed, vinyl wrapping makes sense for healthcare refurbishments.
These are our primary sectors for vinyl wrapping, but if yours isn’t on the list, don’t worry.
If you have a query, get in touch and we can advise you of your next possible steps. If you have an idea in mind and it can be wrapped, we’ll tell you. If it can’t, we’ll tell you that too.
We might even be able to come up with another solution that would be better suited and recommend a company for you.
