What to Expect When You’re Wrapping: A Step-by-Step Look at the Process

vinyl wrapping process

So you want to wrap your furniture or surfaces? Maybe your office desks look like they were built when shoulder pads were still a thing, or your gym lockers have witnessed one too many protein shake disasters. Whatever the case, we turn tired surfaces into something slick, stylish and glamorous. At Fusion Surfaces we do this every day but what really happens behind the scenes? Let us take you on a step-by-step journey….

Step One: Survey, samples and the fun begins

Day one is all about scoping out and dreaming big. We arrive armed with tape measures and an array of vinyl samples that’ll make an interior designer weep with joy. The surfaces get checked, measured and appraised for potential tricky corners. Then comes the best bit; clients choosing their finishes. Believe us – they love this part. In fact, one client spent nearly ten minutes stroking a concrete effect sample as if it were a priceless sculpture! At Manchester College Nicholls Campus the pink toilets were straight out of a 1990s slasher flick. By the end of day one the client had chosen stone and woodgrain finishes and was already imagining students’ jaws dropping at the new look.

Step Two: Prepping surfaces like pros

Prep is where patience and precision meet a bit of elbow grease. Every surface is cleaned stripped or lightly sanded to make sure the vinyl sticks like a dream. Sinks are removed, edges treated and surfaces double checked. At the O2 Arena prep was like choreographing a ballet. We had six-hour slots between sold-out shows and every move was timed perfectly. Bar units and fitted furniture had to be ready for wrapping with no mishaps. Our team made it look easy – but trust us, it was organised chaos!

Step Three: Wrapping in action

This is the day the magic happens. Squeegees in hand, our installers stretch, heat and mould the vinyl over every curve edge and awkward corner. Watching dull wood turn into sleek concrete or tired laminates bloom into rich marble never gets boring. Pentagon Motor Group had reception desks, coffee stations and sales counters that were crying out for a makeover. By mid-afternoon on day three the bland was gone and the bold had arrived. The staff kept walking past just to admire their desks, which is always a good sign.

Step Four: Finishing touches and the big reveal

Day four is all about detail. Edges get sealed and surfaces polished, and we inspect every inch like hawks. The difference is immediate; clients walk in and do a double take. That same desk, those same lockers suddenly look like they belong in a design magazine rather than a storage area or office foyer.

Even tricky spaces like Manchester College toilets were wrapped in four days, creating a cohesive premium look without the cost of full replacement.

Beyond Step Four: Admire and protect

The fun does not stop once the wrapping is finished. Vinyl is durable, easy to clean and protects surfaces from scratches, spills and everyday wear and tear. When it is time for a change it peels off cleanly, leaving your options wide open.

Vinyl wrapping is fast and flexible. Whether it is student digs, offices, gyms or showrooms Fusion Surfaces turns uninspiring spaces into something people actually notice. And yes we make it look effortless! Contact us here to find out more.

Rosie Christie

Co-Founder

Older than the rest of the team, but not necessarily wiser as she’d like to think. There’s not an activity under the sun that she’s not been willing to have a go at, resulting in a mediocre ukulele player, part-time blogger, one-time skydiver and an unfinished sitcom script. There’s no room for shades of grey in this half of the partnership; everything comes down to looking after people who are important.

Organising tradesmen is not a task for the fainthearted. But recruiting the right tradesmen, ones who align with our values and are highly skilled at what they do makes for a much more harmonious project management process. Rosie’s role begins with a meeting to discuss your requirements, providing you with a quotation and carries through to the on-site management of your project.

Jade Mitchell

Co-Founder

She’s the only Southerner on the team, but we try not to hold it against her too much. If anything, we’ve enjoyed introducing Jade to a vast number of pie shops now she’s a Northern resident. Standing at a phenomenal 5’2”, she is living proof that big things come in small packages; a mix of infectious enthusiasm, laughter, loyalty, authority and uncanny Theresa May impressions.

Communicating with our clients is Jade’s forte. Being highly organised and placing customer satisfaction at the forefront of everything she does means that from enquiry to completion, your queries will be dealt with efficiently. For an in depth knowledge of the material specification of our interior film, Jade is your woman. She will put your mind at rest that not only do we install this product, but we make sure that is the most suitable for your needs.
