Trends for Restaurant Interior Design 2023

Since the lockdown of 2020, many people became accustomed to eating at home, enjoying takeaways and rustling up discounted Hello Fresh dinners. But now we are all out and about again, and the summer is just around the corner, our thoughts are turning to nights out with our loved ones in relaxing surroundings, enjoying the atmosphere you simply don’t get watching Netflix with your dinner plate on your lap! Interior design is essential to achieving the right ambience and dining experience. Get it perfect and guests will return again and again, sharing their experience on social media and spreading the message to all their friends. A beautifully crafted interior design sets the scene for the food you create and defines your brand in a very busy marketplace. It sets you apart. So, what restaurant interior design trends can we expect to see in 2023?

Green, Green and More Green
One of the biggest trends of 2023 is a back-to-nature theme. Think hanging plants in macrame baskets, succulents in ceramic holders, and even entire walls that are full of greenery! We are loving our plants, people! This restaurant décor trend shows a shift towards overall more sustainable and eco-friendly options.

Being surrounded by nature while we dine is the reason why outside dining space is another growing trend, and if there is no outside space to use, then we bring nature indoors with plants and other greenery. Plants make excellent table separators, giving the diner a more intimate experience and they look fabulous in photos as well!

And just going back to the topic of sustainability, vinyl wrapping for restaurant decoration is just that and more besides. At Fusion, we have wrapped wall panels, used floor-to-ceiling wall graphics, and repurposed dining tables, kitchen surfaces, countertops, reception desks, and dining booths. And all for a fraction of the cost of ripping out and replacing. Keeping not just our clients’ pockets happy, but making for an eco-friendly environment too!

The Rise and Rise of the Instagram Restaurant
Social media, and especially Instagram, are not going anywhere, and neither is the sharing of our best lives online. This is excellent news for restaurants – it quite simply means free advertising!

Stand-out features in the restaurant’s interior design – maybe art on the walls, neon signs, a plant wall as discussed above, or quirky or unusual restaurant furniture – are likely to become the perfect subject, or background, for a photo. Fusion are experienced in all things vinyl and we are always happy to sit down and discuss any options you may have to update your restaurant to a social media hotspot!

And obviously, the more people who see your restaurant or bar, the better! There’s no such thing as a free lunch – but free advertising? We’ll have some of that, thank you very much!

We can expect more and more restaurants to up their game and make themselves as Instagrammable as possible. So, giving your restaurant some interesting features that we can all pose in front of is a huge plus.

Vinyl wrapping affords our restaurant clients a new look to their current furniture and kitchen areas for less money and with less mess or disruption to the working day – or night! We work

around you (see the amazing transformation we completed on My Lahore Café Bar in the Case Studies Section. We worked overnight to accommodate our clients as closing down for a refit for days on end meant a loss of earnings and was not an option for them.)

Open kitchen trend
Open kitchens are fascinating. Although they have been around for some time, they are definitely on the rise. There is something very gratifying about seeing where your food is being created, how its created and who is creating it. With open kitchens, you can watch the preparation that goes into your meal, interact with the chef and you’re able to show real appreciation for their skills. It’s entertaining as well. Who doesn’t love a cookery show?

The question is, does your restaurant hold up to the kind of scrutiny that an open kitchen would inevitably be under?

If you don’t want to go to the cost, time and trouble of a full refit, get in touch and see if vinyl wrapping with us is the solution to your restaurant’s update.

Cleanable materials
Cleanliness is of course, vitally important in any setting where food is involved, and there is no denying that since the pandemic, we all pay a lot more attention to it than ever before. Pre Covid, we would have happily assumed that a table was clean but now we expect to see a member of staff guarantee its hygiene by cleaning it in front of us. It’s just the way things are now.

This attention to hygiene and constant cleaning can affect the way some materials react and can quickly lead to spoiled furniture.

This is where we come in again! Vinyl is a very durable, easy-to-clean, hygienic material and table wraps are one of our many specialities here at Fusion. Perfectly reusable tables do not need to head to landfill. Have them wrapped to give them a fresh, hygienic, photo-ready finish. The trend of the hygienic and aesthetically pleasing restaurant is on the rise!

Rosie Christie

Co-Founder

Older than the rest of the team, but not necessarily wiser as she’d like to think. There’s not an activity under the sun that she’s not been willing to have a go at, resulting in a mediocre ukulele player, part-time blogger, one-time skydiver and an unfinished sitcom script. There’s no room for shades of grey in this half of the partnership; everything comes down to looking after people who are important.

Organising tradesmen is not a task for the fainthearted. But recruiting the right tradesmen, ones who align with our values and are highly skilled at what they do makes for a much more harmonious project management process. Rosie’s role begins with a meeting to discuss your requirements, providing you with a quotation and carries through to the on-site management of your project.

Jade Mitchell

Co-Founder

She’s the only Southerner on the team, but we try not to hold it against her too much. If anything, we’ve enjoyed introducing Jade to a vast number of pie shops now she’s a Northern resident. Standing at a phenomenal 5’2”, she is living proof that big things come in small packages; a mix of infectious enthusiasm, laughter, loyalty, authority and uncanny Theresa May impressions.

Communicating with our clients is Jade’s forte. Being highly organised and placing customer satisfaction at the forefront of everything she does means that from enquiry to completion, your queries will be dealt with efficiently. For an in depth knowledge of the material specification of our interior film, Jade is your woman. She will put your mind at rest that not only do we install this product, but we make sure that is the most suitable for your needs.
