The football season is fast approaching and with it all the excitement, the drama, the highs and the lows. And whether you follow the men’s or the women’s teams (or both), if you’re a fan, you will be no doubt gearing up for August and the return of the Beautiful Game!
For those of you who don’t know, Fusion Surfaces was born and brought up in the north of England. Our co-founders are two women – one is a northerner (Rosie). And one from the South (Jade)! So here at Fusion, we are a blended family and our staff and installers hail from many different parts of the UK.
Being from the north, football is all around, and even for those of us who aren’t necessarily keen on the sport, we do have a sneaking smugness that some of the best teams in the country (and indeed the world) hail from our part of the UK. We are home to Man United, Man City, Liverpool, Everton, Blackpool, Burnley, Bolton, Oldham, Wigan, and Preston. Quite an impressive set of clubs. So why is there a North West bias in English football?
Football is traditionally a working-class pursuit. The industrial towns and factories of northern England were particularly conducive to the formation of the early football clubs. So, it makes sense that the North West is the heartland of English football. If you look at the size of the population in England and Wales, and compare it to the homes of professional football clubs, you will see that the North West is over-represented and London and the South East are under–represented.
But, the balance of power in English football is changing. It is noticeable in recent years that southern-based clubs like Reading, Portsmouth, Southampton, and Norwich are having the best spells in their history. Not to mention the big clubs such as Arsenal, Spurs, Aston Villa et al!
Clubs need to keep on top of their game and not just on the pitch. The rising cost of tickets means that fans expect top quality, both on the pitch and in the stadium.
Recently, we were asked to work at Bolton Wanderers Football Club, the soon-to-be named Toughsheet Community Stadium. The Whites’ home has undergone a major refurbishment programme to give it a fresh look.
New club branding and signage are in place, along with re-decoration and upgrades to hospitality and concourse areas. The Fusion team carried out refurbishments to the bar areas and boardroom tables, wrapping the original furniture to create a more modern and stylish look.
For Bolton fans, there are high hopes for this season, having won 4-0 over Plymouth to claim the Papa John’s Trophy in April.
And not only that, they have a beautiful, updated and stylish community space to enjoy the game and relax in.
Over the years, Fusion has worked on many different types of sports clubs, helping them to improve their overall look at a fraction of the cost of replacing furniture, fixtures and fittings. Using vinyl wrapping to give a new, fresh, modern look.
It’s a fast application without any mess and its vastly cheaper than ripping out and replacing furniture, making it sustainable and eco- friendly. It’s durable and hardwearing with no end to the different looks you can achieve with the hundreds of finishes we can offer.
We have used vinyl wrapping on spaces such as:
Entryways: It’s the first place in your club that members will see and the first impression should be appealing and inviting. Consider having one wall wrapped in a striking fabric to help to create a wow factor. Internal doors don’t need to be thrown in a skip and replaced at a huge expense. Have them wrapped in a modern wood effect or a shade to match your décor of choice.
Dining and Bar Areas: If your current dining tables are looking shabby or tired, have them wrapped to a brand new and hygienic finish to tie in with the rest of the room. Dated kitchens take on a modern look and are given a new lease of life, saving you 70% of the cost of a brand-new kitchen. And you are helping to keep things sustainable by reusing what you already have.
Showers, Bathrooms, Toilets and Lockers: We have transformed dozens of bathrooms, showers and changing rooms, and lockers with our expert installers working quickly and effectively without any mess or disruption.
Our fabulous cross-cultural team here at Fusion Headquarters are happy to work anywhere in the country. For any football club in the country. In fact, any place in the country that has flat surfaces that need modernising. We are hugely experienced with all things vinyl. We are reliable and professional.
