When planning a hotel refurbishment, there are many things to consider pre-start.
In a traditional refurbishment, it is likely that there will be various people involved in the overall project, from interior designers to fit-out contractors, who will manage a host of subcontractors in an efficient way to get your project over the line to a high standard and by the deadline you have agreed upon.
At Fusion, we have worked under fit-out companies where other works have been specified, and we have also managed projects on our own.
Using vinyl wrapping is quickly becoming a quicker, more efficient and cost-effective way to refurbish hotels, and we have plenty of experience in this sector.
Below, we will talk through some of the stages of planning your project, give some ideas of how this can be best executed and how you can benefit from our services as part of a wider refurbishment project.
Involve Your Team
Part of the process you will need to go through is gathering customer feedback and talking to your team to establish the goals of the project.
One of the easiest ways to get feedback is to simply ask for it. Most people are happy to provide opinions when asked.
Hotels have several touchpoints for interacting with customers, and for those employees who are primarily in contact with customers, it is crucial to ask what the overall feedback has been.
Some questions which you should ask include:
- How many complaints have there been, and what were they regarding?
- What do they think of the facilities the hotel has to offer?
- Are there any unexpected issues they have encountered during their stay?
- Perhaps most importantly, would they choose to stay with you again, and if not, why?
It is vital to ensure that your employees are gathering this information from customers regularly. In the planning stage of your hotel refurbishment project, you should hold a team meeting in which your employees can notify you of any and all feedback which they have received from customers.
Gather Customer Feedback
It is no surprise that every hotel needs to work for its customers.
Retaining current customers is high on the priority list but bringing in new business is also extremely important.
For new customers, the internet can show them everything they need to know about your hotel before they make a decision on whether to stay with you.
Photographs are especially powerful, as well as reviews. Customers may not always make their opinions known face-to-face, but if they are not satisfied customers, then they may take to TripAdvisor to express their concerns and warn future visitors.
It is worth checking these websites regularly for feedback that has been given to see what your customers thought of their stay.
In particular, when thinking about a hotel refurbishment, look out for the comments customers have made about the interiors of the bedrooms, reception area and dining area.
It might be an idea to ask your current customers what they think about your hotel and areas that need upgrading in a short survey that you can send them via email.
Once you have collated all the information, you can then formulate a plan.
Define Your Project Objectives
When considering vinyl wrapping using architectural film within your project, you will need to know which items can be vinyl wrapped.
In bedrooms, we can wrap fitted furniture, including wardrobes, headboards, desks/vanity units, bedside cabinets, etc. If anything in the bedrooms cannot be wrapped, we will tell you about this during your site survey.
The furniture which you have wrapped does not need to be in perfect condition, but occasionally, it may be the case that it needs to be replaced if it is beyond repair.
In other areas of the hotel, we can wrap reception desks and walls (as seen in our case study of Millennium hotels).
If we are working as part of a fit-out project, then it is a good idea to have the vinyl wrapping element towards the end of the programme, where the dust level is at a minimum.
Choose A Design
There is a truckload of designs you can choose from when it comes to vinyl wrapping with Fusion.
We have hundreds of options available for architectural film (the kind of vinyl we use) from woods to marbles, and fabric to solid colours.
The possibilities are endless.
The three brands available to you that we have used on previous projects are LX Hausys, Coverstyl’ and 3M. You can find their brochures here on our website.
We have worked with interior designers to create luxurious spaces that are on-brand and appealing to hotel guests. You have the option to choose from our hundreds of samples to design a room that is perfect for your guests.
Other leading hotels have arranged for a trial room to be vinyl wrapped and to test out the durability for their peace of mind before completing the full project. This is a great option to ensure your budget is being well spent.
In Manchester, we wrapped a test wardrobe for the Lowry hotel so that they could see the quality of the wrapping beforehand. They did, and then signed up for 150 wardrobes.
Where Can You Vinyl Wrap Hotels?
We have worked in hotels nationwide, from the biggest chains in the country to smaller, boutique hotels. Every design has been different with numerous people involved, but one thing has remained the same; our customer satisfaction.
Vinyl Wrap For Hotel Design
We have vinyl-wrapped furniture for Premier Inns and Holiday Inns around the UK, from Aberdeen to London and locations in between. The doors we completed for Premier Inn were to upgrade some of their hotel chains to the new brand standards and vinyl wrapping was an obvious choice as the lead times of new doors were reaching ridiculous highs.
With the interior film being fire rated, they were guaranteed safety when using on their guest room doors without sacrificing design.
Similarly, the Holiday Inn Aberdeen had an outdated royal blue on almost every item of furniture in each of their 155 bedrooms and needed a solution that fit within their budget whilst modernising their existing space.
