iQ Student Accommodation

The Brief

As part of a wider refurbishment project, iQ Student Accommodation in London wanted to upgrade the fitted panels in each of their 234 bedrooms. The goal was to modernise the space with a clean, neutral tone – but the new finish needed to match an exact RAL colour already specified by the design team.

With students returning on a fixed date, all works had to be completed on time and in sync with other trades on site.

The Solution

We worked with Metamark to produce a bespoke colour from the MiA range, custom-made in advance to match the RAL reference provided by the furniture manufacturer. This ensured colour consistency across all 234 rooms and alignment with the wider design scheme.

Rather than replacing the panels – which would have meant cost, downtime and joinery works – we proposed a full wrap of each fitted unit using the custom-coloured vinyl, applied by a skilled installer.

The Process

One experienced installer delivered the entire project over three weeks, using over 800m of film and working ahead of other trades and maintaining clean, uninterrupted progress throughout.

Each panel was prepped, silicone removed, wrapped, and finished neatly, even around complex detailing. The quality and finish were so well received that additional works were added mid-project, including shelves and a reception desk.

Our team stayed closely aligned with the refurbishment programme to ensure smooth coordination and zero delays.

The Transformation

The rooms were transformed from dated, plain woodgrain panels to a modern and cohesive neutral tone, designed to suit the updated interiors and provide a more premium feel for returning students.

What had once looked tired and generic now felt purpose-designed…all without the mess or disruption of full joinery replacement.

She’s the only Southerner on the team, but we try not to hold it against her too much. If anything, we’ve enjoyed introducing Jade to a vast number of pie shops now she’s a Northern resident.
