The Humber View Hotel, situated in the heart of Hull, was preparing to reopen its doors to the public after fulfilling a government contract. To ensure a welcoming and refreshed environment for their returning guests, the hotel sought to revitalise their guest rooms.

The Consultation

Having been used for a specific purpose during the government contract, the hotel’s guest rooms needed a refresh before reopening to the general public. A crucial element of this refresh was the existing desk tops and reception desk area. However, finding a perfect match for the cherry wood finish of the existing desk tops proved challenging due to limited design options in this type of finish. Traditional desk replacement would have been a time-consuming and potentially costly endeavour.

The Process

Understanding the unique challenge presented by the cherry wood finish, we proposed 3M Di-Noc vinyl wrapping as the ideal solution. This innovative technique offered several advantages:

  • Fast Transformation: Vinyl application delivers a rapid visual upgrade, minimising disruption to the hotel’s reopening timeline.

  • Cost-Effective Solution: Vinyl wrapping offers a significant cost advantage compared to replacing the desk tops entirely.

  • Matching the Existing Décor: We prioritised finding a vinyl finish that matched the existing cherry wood, ensuring a similar visual transition.
 

Due to the importance of achieving a perfect match for the cherry wood finish, we conducted a trial wrap in one guest room beforehand. This allowed the Hull Humber View Hotel team to thoroughly assess the vinyl’s aesthetic and durability before we proceeded with the full application.

The Transformation

The existing desk tops and reception desk area were refreshed with the professionally installed interior film, replicating the original cherry wood finish. In the reception area, the client chose a copper concrete finish to match the existing décor which lightened up and modernised the space. This not only created a fresh and inviting atmosphere in the guest rooms but also ensured a cohesive visual aesthetic throughout the hotel. The swift execution of the vinyl wrapping process minimised disruption, allowing the Hull Humber View Hotel to remain on track for their reopening schedule.

Older than the rest of the team, but not necessarily wiser as she’d like to think. There’s not an activity under the sun that she’s not been willing to have a go at, resulting in a mediocre ukulele player, part-time blogger, one-time skydiver and an unfinished sitcom script. There’s no room for shades of grey in this half of the partnership; everything comes down to looking after people who are important.

Organising tradesmen is not a task for the fainthearted. But recruiting the right tradesmen, ones who align with our values and are highly skilled at what they do makes for a much more harmonious project management process. Rosie’s role begins with a meeting to discuss your requirements, providing you with a quotation and carries through to the on-site management of your project.

Jade Mitchell

Co-Founder

She’s the only Southerner on the team, but we try not to hold it against her too much. If anything, we’ve enjoyed introducing Jade to a vast number of pie shops now she’s a Northern resident. Standing at a phenomenal 5’2”, she is living proof that big things come in small packages; a mix of infectious enthusiasm, laughter, loyalty, authority and uncanny Theresa May impressions.
