EBM Project Management

The Brief

EBM Project Management Ltd. approached us with a unique challenge during the refurbishment of a former nightclub at The Light in Leeds City Centre. They were transforming two floors – the ground floor into a restaurant and the basement remaining a nightclub. However, they had a large number of existing toilet cubicle doors including vision panels and painted black, as well as IPS panels and access panels. Replacing all the doors entirely wasn’t ideal, so EBM sought a cost-effective and stylish solution to refresh these existing doors.
Location:
Leeds
Duration:
3 Days
Sector:
Hospitality

The Consultation

Our on-site assessment confirmed the doors were suitable for vinyl wrapping using architectural film. We discussed EBM’s vision for the space, particularly the desire to avoid replacing perfectly functional doors. Following this, we collaborated with their team to gather design preferences and any existing artwork for the graphic elements. After deciding on a premium 3M Di-NOC finish for the architectural film, we were all happy the client’s expected results would be achieved.

The Process

In order to adhere to the project timeline, we planned ahead. We printed and cut the vinyl graphics in advance, allowing our installation team to focus solely on wrapping the doors upon arrival. The project spanned three days and showcased the versatility of our skillset, combining architectural film application with custom vinyl graphics.

The Transformation

The transformation was one of the most striking we have achieved so far, with the inclusion of the printed graphics. Plain black doors received a new lease on life with the application of high-grade 3M Di-Noc concrete architectural film, creating a sleek and modern look. Large, printed and cut vinyl numbers on the basement toilet doors (24 in total), added a distinctive touch and enhancing visibility. The IPS and access panels received the same 3M Di-Noc treatment, ensuring a cohesive aesthetic throughout the restrooms.

The Outcome

EBM Project Management Ltd. were thrilled with the final results. The vinyl wrapping not only delivered a stylish upgrade but was also completed well within the project’s timeline. This project showcased the cost-saving and sustainable benefits of vinyl wrapping compared to traditional door replacement.

Client Advantages

EBM Project Management benefited significantly from our vinyl wrapping expertise.  Here’s a breakdown of the key advantages:

Cost-effective: Vinyl wrapping offered a significantly lower cost solution compared to replacing all the existing doors.

Sustainable: By revitalising existing doors rather than discarding them, the project minimised environmental impact.

Timely completion: We adhered to the project’s established timeline, ensuring a smooth transition for EBM.

Conclusion

This project at The Light in Leeds shows the difference architectural film and graphics can make to a project in enhancing the aesthetic. We transformed dated doors into stylish and functional elements, showcasing the versatility and cost-effective nature of this technique.  We are proud of our collaboration with EBM Project Management Ltd. and the opportunity to demonstrate the diverse applications of our skillset.

Rosie Christie

Co-Founder

Older than the rest of the team, but not necessarily wiser as she’d like to think. There’s not an activity under the sun that she’s not been willing to have a go at, resulting in a mediocre ukulele player, part-time blogger, one-time skydiver and an unfinished sitcom script. There’s no room for shades of grey in this half of the partnership; everything comes down to looking after people who are important.

Organising tradesmen is not a task for the fainthearted. But recruiting the right tradesmen, ones who align with our values and are highly skilled at what they do makes for a much more harmonious project management process. Rosie’s role begins with a meeting to discuss your requirements, providing you with a quotation and carries through to the on-site management of your project.

Jade Mitchell

Co-Founder

She’s the only Southerner on the team, but we try not to hold it against her too much. If anything, we’ve enjoyed introducing Jade to a vast number of pie shops now she’s a Northern resident. Standing at a phenomenal 5’2”, she is living proof that big things come in small packages; a mix of infectious enthusiasm, laughter, loyalty, authority and uncanny Theresa May impressions.

Communicating with our clients is Jade’s forte. Being highly organised and placing customer satisfaction at the forefront of everything she does means that from enquiry to completion, your queries will be dealt with efficiently. For an in depth knowledge of the material specification of our interior film, Jade is your woman. She will put your mind at rest that not only do we install this product, but we make sure that is the most suitable for your needs.
