DBSJ
The Brief
DBSJ approached Fusion Surfaces with a vision to modernise the bathrooms in a busy office block in Didsbury. The challenge was to refresh the space without the logistical complications and high costs associated with replacing the existing cubicles, IPS panels, and doors. Our task was to align with the upmarket colour scheme drawn up by the project’s interior designer.

Didsbury

8 days

Corporate Offices
The Consultation
In collaboration with the project’s interior designer, we selected an LX Hausys charcoal grey for the wrap, complementing the office’s sleek design elements. The choice of a solid colour scheme was deliberate to prevent the bathrooms from becoming too ‘busy’ with lots of different textures. Given the office’s active use, we proposed a phased installation plan, ensuring minimal disruption to the daily routines of those working in the building.
The Process
Our installation team adhered to the tight schedule, navigating the complexities of the cubicle doors with expertise. Despite the intricate lip inside each door designed to fit the cubicle system, our skilled installers worked to give a flawless finish. We were able to work around other trades on-site and organise ourselves in different rooms so as not to interrupt the other works.
The Transformation
Our installation team undertook a detailed transformation, wrapping cubicle doors, vanity units, entrance doors, and IPS panels in the chosen dark grey. To contrast and brighten the area, we wrapped the existing frames in solid white, shifting from a dated brown wood to a more modern visual. Late on, the project expanded beyond the initial scope, including an additional seven doors downstairs, upon the end client’s request. We were happy to go the extra mile for our client and worked at the weekend to ensure they could still handover the project on the day that was originally planned.
The Outcome
The transformation was striking, presenting the end client with bathrooms that felt brand new. The impeccable finish of the doors and the overall quality of the wrapping were particularly praised. The project’s site manager expressed gratitude for our cooperative spirit and our ability to adapt to sudden changes in the project scope.
Client Advantages
This refurbishment resulted in significant cost savings for DBSJ, and therefore, their end client, with over £30,000 saved on what would have been spent on replacing bathroom furniture alone, not to mention the additional savings of over £500 per office door. More than just financial benefits, this project highlighted the sustainability of vinyl wrapping, saving numerous fixtures from ending up in landfill and contributing to a more eco-friendly refurbishment process.
Conclusion
The Didsbury office bathroom project is a great way of showcasing how innovative interior vinyl wrapping can be on commercial projects. By using interior vinyl wrapping, DBSJ achieved a modern, high-quality finish that aligned with their design vision and budgetary requirements, all while prioritising sustainability. This project shows how thoughtful planning, skilled execution, and a collaborative approach can transform a workspace, enhancing its appeal and functionality for years into the future.
